❝The Host❞ - Stephenie Meyer
I got the book “The Host” (by Stephenie Meyer) as a birthday present last year when I turned 20. I've "saved" it and didn't start reading it until some weeks ago & now in the weekend that was I finished it.
The book was really good and I recommend it to everyone who likes books in the sci-fi genre! And to the rest of you as well, since it was so good.
The book is about:
“Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer & Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.”
I read some chapters from the book every evening/night and I didn't want to stop reading when I started, which is a sign that it's a good book you're reading. And when I finished the book this weekend I only wanted even more!
I'd really want that Stephenie wrote a sequel to the book but so far I haven't heard anything about a sequel + that the book finished in a way that makes it possible to write a sequel to the book but the history could also stop where the book stopped. But it would really be fun to read a sequel to it because like I said I want more!
I can definitely say that “The Host” is my new favorite book and I really look forward to being able to see the book turn into a movie. If you didn't already know, “The Host” will also be turned into a movie. The movie is planned to be released in 2013 and the filming will start in February 2012 according to IMDB. Which actors who will play the characters is already planned so search for “The Host” on IMDB and you'll know more, if you're interested. It's hard to say if I'm happy or disappointed with the actors that have been chosen to play the characters. I think that I'll only be able to answer that once I've seen the movie so I'll have to wait until that before I can answer that.
